Newsletter #12 – April 2021

We want to share some good news and some sad news. In March 2021, PeaceGen gratefully received an award.

During Kick Andy Heroes’ annual event, PeaceGen was given a Kick Andy Heroes 2021 award. The Kick Andy Heroes jury, consisting of Rhenald Kasali (Rumah Perubahan), Alfatih Timur (Kitabisa.com), and Tri Mumpuni (renewable energy social entrepreneurship), selected PeaceGen as a hero along with seven other winners. The jury went through a long selection process which included more than 40 nominees.

I, Irfan Amalee, representing PeaceGen, went up to the award stage to receive the trophy given by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Retno Marsudi.

We always interpret awards as a marker. It is about our collaborative work. A sign that our efforts carry meaning and have an impact. That convinces us even more that we have to keep working and continuing unfinished homework.

We will be giving the Kick Andy Heroes award to the real heroes on the field, namely Agents of Peace who work in the vanguard. Those who work in the region and in several neighboring countries that implement PeaceGen programs. Also to you, partners, donors, and supporters who support and pray for us to continue working.

Only a few days after the awards program was aired, we were shocked by the suicide bombing in Makassar and the attempted attack at the Police Headquarters. Joy with appreciation follows sorrow. For us, this is a message (maybe even a slap) from God that we should not be careless because our work is far from over.
